You wait ‘neath Sigyn’s outstretched bowl
A tragedy, a travesty
Breath forced to even rhythm
Fighting, straining to relax
Until the bowl’s inexorably full
Exhausted microsleeps
Your only form of respite
The entrails of your darling son,
Brave Sigyn’s get, young one of two,
Keep you here ‘gainst all our wills.
The other son now locked in fur
Runs with the pack of Odin’s bane,
The wolf of greed still helpless to
Recover brother's sanity
Three parents weep, bereft of hope
Five offspring stolen; one still serves
The wrecker of his family.
One mother screams for bloody vengeance
Another struggles with the bowl
The last awaits the serpent’s flame
Their grief is overwhelming
The time of pain has come again
You hold composure with iron grip
Until your love is out of sight
But she still hears the screams
These little lies help keep you sane
But the bowl drips full eventually
And the slavering beast appears
Timeless, eternal, the fight drags on
The end of one the end of all
You bear your battle well
Each scar draws madness on your flesh
But you will not give in
She watches you, you watch her back,
That thread the lifeline of you both
You wish she'd leave, You pray she stays
You don't want this for her
Yet she remains, devotion true
A hero in your eyes,
A hero in her eyes
Two heroes in my own.
