How do I call my lady fair
What words can e’er describe her?
Battle bright lady of the slain
Whose ears delight in love songs
She travels drawn by feline paws
Harnessed, pulling in tandem
Or else aboard her golden boar
The bold brave Hildisvini
What can I say of the golden draught,
Frightened the Aesir, called them to war
When thrice she rose from fire and spear
To end her they found naught.
Instead she went to prophesize
Among the humble households
While battle came, and no one won
But Heid, she wandered still
How shall I sing of Brising’s Band,
That gold and amber necklace?
Four dwarves she loved for but one night
Their payment gladly granted
But Odin sent his faithful friend
To steal it while she rested
In seal form Heimdall rescued it
To grace her neck again
What can I say of the warrior maid
With first choice of the fallen?
No one knows what passes there
But I think she grants healing.
Amber gold tears for a love lost wandering
Falcon wings spread, eternally searching
With many names she follows him
Shining bright over the sea.
