�We respect the teachings Spirit gives us through dreams, visions, and spirit helpers,
�and through the guidance of those beings who have taught us and will teach us
� as we travel the spiral path of life.

�We honor the revelations of Spirit given to the peoples of the Earth through
� all of the People of Wisdom of all lands, past and present, known and unknown.

�We walk with honor in the spirits of our ancestors: physical, cultural, and spiritual.

�We speak the language of the earth spirits, that we may gain assistance
� from the forests, plains, mountains, oceans, lakes, rivers, winds, storms, and fires.

�We travel to the Otherworlds, visiting and learning from the deities of creation.

�We remove evil spirits that cause disease and trouble
� to the Gates of the Otherworlds, so they may again find their own direction.

�We listen as others tell us their dreams and visions and help them
to understand and express the messages Spirit has given them.

�We teach the mysteries of deities and spirits so others may find ways of
�wholeness, balance and beauty.

�We weave the web of wellness from the fabric of existence.

�We are Metista.

* The term Metista came to Joseph in June 1996 while contemplating how to answer a question about his spiritual orientation. It is a derived word, rooted in the French "m�tis" (which means "mixed") and related to Metis, the ancient Greek Goddess of Wisdom, mother of Athena.
